I just survived the thrilling ride that is We Bury the Dead, and I’m still trying to process the chaos I witnessed. This Horror, Thriller masterpiece, directed by Zak Hilditch, is a wild rollercoaster of emotions that will keep you on the edge of your seat. With a talented cast, including Daisy Ridley and Brenton Thwaites, this movie is a must-see for fans of the genre.
The plot of We Bury the Dead is built around a catastrophic military disaster that unleashes a horde of undead creatures. As Ava, played by Daisy Ridley, ventures into a quarantine zone in search of her missing husband, she discovers that the dead are not as harmless as the military claims. With a runtime of just 95 minutes, this film packs a punch, and its tight pacing keeps the tension high throughout.
We absolutely loved the way Zak Hilditch weaves together the story, creating a sense of urgency and desperation that’s hard to shake off. The cast, particularly Daisy Ridley and Brenton Thwaites, deliver impressive performances that bring depth to their characters. The film’s use of “hope” as a theme is also noteworthy, as it raises questions about the human condition and our willingness to hold on to “hope” even in the darkest times. Additionally, the Horror elements are well-balanced with the Thriller aspects, making for a thrilling ride that’s both scary and suspenseful.
However, we didn’t love the lack of character development for some of the supporting cast, including Mark Coles Smith and Chloe Hurst. Their characters feel a bit one-dimensional, which makes it hard to become fully invested in their stories. Furthermore, the film’s TMDb Rating of 6.2/10 seems a bit low, given the movie’s overall quality and entertainment value.
In the end, We Bury the Dead is a gripping Horror, Thriller film that will keep you on the edge of your seat. With its talented cast, tight pacing, and thought-provoking themes, this movie is a must-see for fans of the genre. I’d give it a solid 8 out of 10, and I’m excited to see what Zak Hilditch does next. If you’re looking for a thrilling ride with plenty of scares and suspense, We Bury the Dead is definitely worth checking out.
