The plot of Saccharine revolves around Hana, a lovelorn medical student who gets sucked into a bizarre weight-loss craze that involves eating human ashes – because, you know, that’s exactly what you want to try when you’re feeling down. As Hana delves deeper into this questionable diet, she’s haunted by the ghost of the person she’s, well, eating. It’s a real bone to pick with the afterlife, and Hana’s about to find out that some cravings just aren’t worth it.

We absolutely loved the cast, which includes Trevorr Surej, Midori Francis, Danielle Macdonald, Madeleine Madden, and Joseph Baldwin – they all brought their A-game to this twisted tale. The special effects were also top-notch, making the supernatural elements truly terrifying. The horror genre is all about building tension, and Natalie Erika James does a great job of keeping you guessing. Furthermore, the movie’s themes of obsession and the lengths people will go to achieve their goals are both haunting and thought-provoking.

That being said, there were a few things that didn’t quite sit right with us. At times, the pacing felt a bit uneven, and some of the supporting characters felt a bit one-dimensional. Additionally, the twists and turns were sometimes a bit predictable, taking away from the overall shock value of the film.

In the end, Saccharine is a solid addition to the horror genre, even if it doesn’t always hit the mark. With its unique plot and talented cast, it’s definitely worth a watch – just maybe don’t eat anything too ashy before heading to the theater. We’d give Saccharine a rating of 7 out of 10, and we’re excited to see what Natalie Erika James does next. If you’re a fan of movies like The Ring or The Grudge, you’ll likely find Saccharine to be a hauntingly good time.
