I just watched Christy (2025) and I’m still reeling from the experience – in the best way possible! This History, Drama film tells the incredible true story of Christy Martin, a small-town girl with a big dream and an even bigger punch. With its talented cast, including Sydney Sweeney and Ben Foster, Christy is a must-see for anyone who loves a good underdog story.

The plot of Christy follows the titular character as she discovers her passion for boxing and rises to fame under the guidance of her trainer and manager-turned-husband, Jim. As Christy navigates the male-dominated world of boxing, she must also confront her own personal demons and the challenges of her tumultuous relationship. With its gripping storyline and impressive performances, Christy is a film that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

What we loved about Christy is the way it balances action and drama, making it a compelling watch for fans of both genres. Sydney Sweeney shines as Christy, bringing a depth and nuance to the character that’s hard to look away from. The film’s themes of perseverance and self-discovery are also deeply inspiring, making it a great choice for anyone looking for a motivational story. Additionally, the chemistry between Sweeney and Ben Foster is undeniable, making their complex and often toxic relationship both fascinating and heartbreaking to watch. As Christy says, you have to want it more than anyone else, and that determination is palpable throughout the film.

If we’re being honest, there are a few areas where Christy falls short. At times, the pacing can feel a bit slow, and some of the supporting characters feel slightly underdeveloped. Additionally, the film’s portrayal of Christy’s relationship with Jim can be uncomfortable to watch, and some viewers may find themselves wishing for a more straightforward happily ever after ending.

In the end, Christy is a film that will leave you feeling inspired and energized, with a newfound appreciation for the power of determination and grit. With its talented cast, gripping storyline, and impressive performances, Christy is a must-see for fans of David Michôd and the History, Drama genre. I’d give it a solid 8 out of 10 – don’t miss it!
