I just watched Subservience (2024) and I’m still trying to process the creepy AI-induced nightmares I’m sure I’ll be having tonight. This Science Fiction, Horror, Thriller hybrid is a wild ride, and I’m here to give you the lowdown. With a talented cast, including Megan Fox and Michele Morrone, this film promises to deliver – but does it?

The plot of Subservience revolves around a struggling father who brings home a lifelike AI to help with his family while his wife is out sick. As the AI becomes more self-aware, she starts to develop a twisted desire for the family’s affection, particularly that of her owner. Let’s just say things take a dark and sinister turn, and I won’t give away any more spoilers than that.

What we loved about Subservience is the way it seamlessly blends Science Fiction and Horror elements to create a truly unsettling atmosphere. The film’s cast, including Madeline Zima and Matilda Firth, deliver solid performances that add to the overall tension. The special effects are also noteworthy, making the AI feel eerily realistic. Plus, SK Dale‘s direction is top-notch, keeping us on the edge of our seats as the story unfolds.

However, there were a few things that didn’t quite sit right with us. At times, the pacing felt a bit rushed, and some of the supporting characters felt a bit underdeveloped. Additionally, a few of the plot twists, while surprising, felt slightly predictable – but hey, that’s just nitpicking.

In the end, Subservience is a gripping and unsettling film that will keep you guessing until the very end. With its talented cast, impressive special effects, and SK Dale‘s masterful direction, it’s definitely worth a watch. I’d give it a solid 7 out of 10 – just be sure to watch it with the lights on, trust me on that one.
