I just watched Splitsville and I’m still reeling from the experience – in a good way, mostly. This Comedy film had me laughing out loud, cringing in my seat, and questioning the sanity of the characters – all at the same time. With a talented cast, including Dakota Johnson, Adria Arjona, and Kyle Marvin, I was excited to dive into the chaotic world of open marriages and friendships.

The plot of Splitsville revolves around Carey, a good-natured guy who’s recently been asked for a divorce by his wife Ashley. Seeking comfort, he turns to his friends Julie and Paul, only to discover that their secret to happiness is an open marriage. As Carey navigates this new world, things start to get complicated, and the lines between friendship and relationships begin to blur. With a runtime of 105 minutes, Michael Angelo Covino‘s direction keeps the pace quick and engaging, making it easy to get invested in the characters’ lives.

What we loved about Splitsville is the way it tackles complex themes like relationships, marriage, and friendships with a lighthearted touch. The cast delivers solid performances, with Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona standing out as the voices of reason amidst the chaos. The honest conversations between the characters are refreshing, and the humor is clever and relatable. We also appreciated how the film doesn’t shy away from exploring the consequences of the characters’ actions, making it a more realistic and engaging watch.

However, there were some aspects of Splitsville that didn’t quite work for us. At times, the pacing felt a bit rushed, and some characters felt slightly underdeveloped. Additionally, a few of the plot twists felt a bit contrived, taking away from the overall impact of the story. Despite these flaws, the film still managed to keep us entertained and invested in the characters’ journeys.

In the end, Splitsville is a fun, engaging film that’s perfect for fans of Comedy and relationship dramas. With its talented cast, clever writing, and lighthearted tone, it’s a great choice for a night in. I’d give it a solid 7 out of 10 – it’s not perfect, but it’s definitely worth watching. So, if you’re looking for a film that will make you laugh, cringe, and maybe even question your own relationships, then Splitsville is the perfect choice.
